Rocky Beach, Musandam
Oman Camping – Rocky Beach, Musandam
Tucked far below the Khasab Coastal Road, opposite the village of Al Harf, lies one of the best wild camping beaches in Musandam.
Getting There
- Turn off the main road at Al Harf and follow the winding dirt track down towards the coast.
- Park at the bottom, then carry your gear about 20–30 metres along the beach to the prime camp spot, in front of the water tanks and rickety shelter.
The Setting
- Secluded and hidden from the road above.
- Framed by Musandam’s striking layered limestone cliffs, which shelter the bay and soften the waves.
- Perfect for swimming in the warm coastal waters, often accompanied by colourful fish.
- The shore is covered in rocky outcrops draped in seaweed, home to countless crabs.
- At the far end lies the best camp spot – a small sandy beach sloping gently into the water.
Camping Experience
- Completely peaceful at night, with the beach all to yourself.
- Morning brings occasional visitors – a curious herd of goats or the weekly water tanker ship, which comes to refill the beachside tanks.
- Unique among Oman’s wild campsites, this spot even has its own fresh water supply thanks to those tanks.
